What to expect in therapy

Therapy offers a path to understanding and renewal. Your therapist acts as a guide, helping you face challenges, uncover strengths, and imagine new possibilities. Through your own hard work and clinical guidance, you will learn new ways to relate to yourself, build resilience, and create meaningful change that spreads into every part of your life.

About my practice

I am a caring and compassionate therapist with great respect for the work my clients do in therapy. As a therapist, I create a trusting environment where clients feel they can be open and receptive to their own thoughts and feelings, and to the material that arises in the therapeutic process. I have worked for many years with clients who are dealing with anxiety, depression, relationship issues, and life transitions (such as adjusting to college, completing dissertations, marriage, divorce, and having children). I have also seen many clients who have had experiences of trauma, sexual abuse, physical abuse, and neglect.

In 30+ years of practice, I've helped clients cope with stress, manage mental and physical illnesses, transitions, relationships, grief, and growth. I approach therapy primarily from a psychodynamic perspective but include other modalities, such as cognitive behavioral therapy, when it would be helpful to the client.
